How Boola works

Waitlist

Once the attendance list hits the group's spot limit, whoever comes next joins an automatic queue and moves up on their own as soon as someone leaves.

Member priority

With the list full, a member who confirms takes the spot of the last drop-in, who moves to the queue. The admin turns this on per group and can set a deadline — with no deadline, it always applies. The admin also sees, on each member's card, how many games in a row they have missed.

Penalties

Leaving after the cutoff time triggers an automatic penalty, and the player stays blocked until the admin marks the fine as paid.

Automatic restart

The group reopens itself on the configured day — no admin action needed.

Entry QR code

Share a QR code at the court so players can join with a scan.

Player ratings

Invite evaluators to rate each player's skill level. The algorithm uses this to balance teams.

Try out how the teams would look before drawing for real — pick who's in and see the result instantly, with nothing saved.

Export PDF

Generate a PDF with players grouped by skill level, to share or check outside the app.

Gender balancing

Optionally, the draw also balances teams by gender, on top of skill level.

Spread players out

Mark whoever shouldn't land on the same team — the goalkeepers, the beginners — and the draw spreads them across teams.

Group admins

Invite trusted people to help admin the group — attendance, draws, and wrap-up never get stuck waiting on one person.

Push notifications

Get alerts in your browser or straight on your phone for invites, announcements, and group updates. You pick group by group, with the bell, and turn it off whenever you want.

Activity log

Full history of joins, leaves, draws, and group wrap-ups.

Group cover photo

Personalize the group with a cover photo, shown at the top of the screen for everyone who joins. You frame the image as you upload it, so the crop is your call.

Links that look like invites

Share the link on WhatsApp and the preview shows the group's name, description, and cover photo instead of a bare URL.

Location

Add the court's Google Maps link as a shortcut, shown right next to the group code.

Game rules

Set the pickup game's rules (time, exit criteria, etc.) and keep them visible to everyone.

Duplicate group

Create a copy with the same settings, players, evaluators, and admins.

Free match

Wrap up without charging anything when the game is free — skips the PIX step entirely.

Recent groups

Groups you've visited stay saved on your device so you can jump back in fast, without needing to save the code. With an account, the groups you play in show up on your list from any phone or browser — and you can drop one from the list without leaving the group.

Access modes

Choose who takes part: open to anyone with the link, account-required so everyone only touches their own name, or closed — only members see the list and joining needs your approval.

Open sign-ups

One tap closes the list: players can no longer add themselves, and only the admin decides who's in.

Restart without losing attendance

After the draw, undo just the draw (keeping who confirmed) or restart everything from scratch — your call.

Review the draw before publishing

Turn it on and the draw shows up for you only: check the teams, re-draw, or go back to the list as many times as you need. The group is only notified once you approve.

Game highlights

Crown the player and team of the match at wrap-up, photo included — saved for the group to look back on.

Frequency priority

Whoever has played the most in the group gets priority on the spot itself: when the list is full, someone arriving with more games takes the place of the drop-in who has played the least. The waiting room follows the same order. Monthly members are never bumped, and each player shows how many games they've played.

Group cashbox

The extra paid by drop-in players goes into the cashbox at the end of every match. Admins log withdrawals and see the balance of all their groups in one place.

Export every entry as a CSV, ready to open in Excel or Sheets and share the numbers with your group.

Account profile photo

Set a photo once in My account and it shows up in every group where your player is linked. Admins can still set a different photo for a single group.

Link your profile to your player

Marked yourself present while signed in? Boola asks whether that player is you. Link it and your profile photo shows up — the list stays open to everyone with the link.

Invite by Boola ID

Every account has a public Boola ID, shown as @someone — it is not your name, it is a separate field. The organizer types the start of a Boola ID, picks the person from the list and sends an invite — and whoever gets it decides whether to join. Names aren't searchable, and anyone who prefers can opt out of the search entirely in My account.

Sign in with Google

Create your account or log in with one tap using your Google account — on the web and in the iPhone and Android apps. Email and password still work exactly as before.

Charge the group

When the match wraps up, the app writes the payment message for you — amounts, PIX key, who has paid and who hasn't — and you send it to your WhatsApp group in two taps. Boola has no phone number and no bot, and never sends anything on its own: you pick the group and hit send.

Monthly fees

Track month by month who has paid their membership fee and who hasn't. The amount can change from one month to the next without messing up past months, each check lands in the group's cash book on its own, and members check their own payment on a read-only page.

Dark mode

Use the app in light mode, dark mode, or following your phone's theme. The choice lives in Settings and applies only to that device.
